Cross Country Tops Sizer In Season Opener

Guardians post 21-36 victory in boys heat; Girls earn 20-37 win 

FITCHBURG, Mass. (September 5, 2017) - The St. Peter-Marian cross country team posted a clean sweep as both the boys' and girls' team ran to season-opening victories against Sizer School this afternoon.

Leading the boys this afternoon were junior Ricky Reyes (Worcester, Mass.), sophomore Mitchell Stokes (Worcester, Mass.), senior Harry Shuman (Spencer, Mass.). Reyes notched the best Guardian time of the day, finishing the race with a time of 21:06, while Stokes and Shuman followed closely at 22:51 and 23:18 respectively. 

For the ladies, seventh grader Ashlynn Witt (Princeton, Mass.) notched the best SPM time, finishing the race with a time of 26:24. Senior Rosie McGovern (Worcester, Mass.) was also strong with a time of 31:21, while classmate Liv Kiristy (Worcester, Mass.) finished third on the squad with a time of 33:47. 

St. Peter-Marian will be back in action on Thursday as it travels to Gardner High School at 3:30 pm.
