Nuzzolilo nets a pair, Tisdell collects game winner in Guardians victory
WORCSTER, Mass. (December 22, 2018) - The St. Peter-Marian boys hockey team rallied for three unanswered goals in the third period to earn its first victory of the season, 4-3 over Minnechaug Regional this evening at the Worcester Ice Center.
Freshman Matthew Nuzzolilo (Worcester, Mass.) led the Guardian attack with a pair of goals on the evening, while senior Jonathan Tisdell (Worcester, Mass.) added a pair of points with one goal (game-winner) and one assist. Senior Connor Donoghue (Worcester, Mass.) paced the Guardians with two assists.
After a 1-1 draw in the first period, Minnechaug pulled away in the second with a pair of scores. The Guardians rallied in the third, finding the back of the net three times to earn the win. Senior Mick Ginnity (Fitchburg, Mass.) ignited the charge with a goal at the 3:42 mark, while Nuzzolilo followed just two minutes later to knot the score at 3-3. Tisdell completed the comeback at the 11:43 mark with the eventual game-winner.
In net, junior Kyle Hesselton (Leicester, Mass.) earned the victory, totaling 33 stops in the complete game victory.
St. Peter-Marian (1-3) will be back in action on Thursday as it visits Brockton High at 4pm.
